The adventures of our In Win S-Frame

So we thought we’d do up a quick page focusing on one of our cases we received last year. This has been our most popular, most used, most featured case we’ve ever had. Here’s the story and where it all started.

Meet the In Win S-Frame. Probably one of the most interesting cases every to be created. A glance at the case and then the price might have many people scratching their head. It’s the story behind the creation of this case which needs to be told.

The S-Frame is different, unique and something that is never seen these days, hand made. Yes, to an extent this case is hand craft and bent by hand 15 times by one length of 2 meter piece of metal which ends up being double anodized.

We first received the Gold edition of the S-Frame mid last year for a special gold promo video focusing around the new GOLD Asus GTX 980 Anniversary Edition card.  At this stage we were still unsure if we even had a final build lined up for this case. The feature video was not based around a full functional build, but more about some of the most wicked looking hardware out their. And of course it all had to match.

After this we jumped straight in and did a quick look video on this unique case.

Slightly after this video In Win contacted us to do a few builds for their PAX Australia booth. And yep one of them was to be done using this case. We had plenty of ideas and options for this build. We could have completely re-designed the case, altered it more for water-cooling or just focus on the case we already had and enhance it visually. And that’s exactly what we did. We did receive the “Gold Version” but felt it wasn’t quite worthy of the name.

We really didn’t feel like altering an $800 showpiece of a case so we decided to try create the most epic gold paint job around. After 2 or so weeks of constant painting and sound we came out with a result we were happy with.

The below video is the final PAX AU build but we still weren’t happy with the final colour. We had this build at a small event and I felt I could do better with the end result. We called our build “Tru Gold”

Here’s a final shot of the first revision. Still not happy with the end gold result the only thing to do was completely strip the case down and start the paint process again. About 2 weeks later and a new outcome. This time the gold was a MUCH more brighter gold with a much better reflection in it. I also noticed that you cannot clear coat this type of paint which was a huge mission. Just one little finger would show up.

So the following link is how the case looked after the second paint job

As you can see this time, very very reflective.

Now the case was ready to be shipped to PAX Australia along with our 909, 805 and D-Frame Mini builds – We managed to get an interview with Nelly who is the Global Marketing Manager for In Win – Click Here for video

And a final shot of the S-Frame at it’s spot at PAX Australia. The crowds that gathered around this build were just nuts. Really unexpected.

So by this time PAX Australia was over and the once beautiful S-Frame is now covered in finger prints and marks. As it did travel from Brisbane to Melbourne then back again. Pretty much to an extent where the case needed to be repainted. But this time I decided to change up the theme completely. I wanted to steer away from the troublesome gold colour and use a more manageable and durable colour. This time I decided to go with a white and blue theme.

I opted for a “Signature” build and create a funky looking triple SLI build

Below is a short promo video on the build.

Now this new build is ready to hit the road for a water-cooling event in March to show off it’s new theme and hardware.

Just when we thought our S-Frame journey was nearly over, we were contacted by the team at PC Power Player. One of the largest PC/Tech Magazines in AU. They wanted to feature the original S-Frame build we did on their upcoming magazine cover. This is something we just couldn’t say no to. Check out the final released cover below
